Auto Insurance Family Members

Auto Insurance Family Members
I want to have a home office but don’t know what I need to do. I had a home office years ago but want to set ?

it up again if it isn’t too expensive….I sold insurance at home but had to quit to care for a family member….I have tried to do other things for years & now I want to go back to doing this work…..I know I need a computer expert to set things up for me. I would be hooked up to the agency office which is 30 miles from my house….Is there anyway I can tell what needs to be done so I can than find out how much it will cost & how long it will take to get it done…I used to sell auto ins. but I want to do customer service work now so I would just need their program. I hope someone can answer me but I know so little that I am not sure my question makes any sense. Thanks for you help!

I think it will be alot simpler than you think it is. The technology has come a long way now and connectivity is now very much easier and the price of consumer electronics has fallen.

You will need :

A laptop or desktop computer (with a network card or built-in wi-fi)
A land telephone line that includes broadband Internet.
An all-in-one printer/scanner/fax
A lineline deskphone.

Optional Items:

A mobile telephone (cellphone).
A docking station (in the case you have a laptop).
A wireless router (if you want Internet access all over your house)

Setting up a remote office is alot like setting up a branch depot which I have to sometimes as part of my day job.

Clearly you are working from your home. The procedure I follow is to order the telephone line from the telecoms company. That may take a few weeks lead time to install. Order ADSL or other broadband Internet service on the telephone line so you can have fast Internet access and VPN (remote access) to your agency office.

Think about comfort when you are working. The last thing you want is to be uncomfortable. Make sure you have a decent working area that is seperate from your normal living area (if possible). That is why I suggest a docking station if you are using a laptop that lets you plug a normal keyboard, mouse and monitor into your laptop.

Also think about getting some kind of telephone headset. If you are likely to be spending some hours on the phone, you’ll want some kind of headset with a microphone that you can wear on your head. A compatible desk phone will also be needed.

Once the landline is live you can hook up your wireless router (if you want wifi) or a normal network router (for wired connection). This will allow you to plug in any devices that you want to connect to the Internet with.

You might initally decide to get some help with the networking of your computer. It’s fairly easy nowadays, however, you might want to get it done properly by a professional. Once it’s set up, very little maintenance would be required.

I hope this helps you get started up.
